Rosary Home For The Aged

INTRODUCTION
Rosary Home for the Aged is a social project run by Rosary Trust from 1996 in K.Kailasapuram in South Tamil Nadu, a rural area where people are poor and backward in every walk of life. Rosary Trust is meant to uplift the poor from all types of inhuman sufferings. It covers about 30 villages in and around K.Kailasapuram.

AIM AND ACTIVITY
The aim is to feed, to shelter, to clothe, to medicate and to bury the abandoned aged in rural areas. At present there are 50 neglected aged. They are given food and shelter. They are also buried in case no relatives come forward to help.

BACKGROUND
People of the project area are backward socially, economically and politically. They suffer caste discriminations. Environmentally the area is very hot throughout the year. There is no difference from one season to another. Thus the climate has become bad to worse. The area has not seen a good heavy rain for the last 40 years. There are many aged who are neglected and are in need of help.

FUND
The Trust has no fund to maintain Rosary Home for the Aged. It maintains the home with local donations which is not enough. The want of outside support is very much needed to look after many poor aged and to start other projects to uplift the poor of the area.

LIST OF THE AGED

1		Mr. Thyagaraj, 74 of Kovilpatti, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu is from a poor carpentry family. He has a son who is married. He neglected him after his wife died 6 years ago. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 2 year. He is attacked by stroke and can not walk and talk.
2		Mrs. Sandanam 73 of Keelakottai, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit farmer family. She has 2 sons and 3 girls all married. The sons and daughters are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed her and neglected her after her husband died 6 years ago. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 5 years. She is a gastric patient.
3		Mrs. Savariammal 82 of K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli Dt,Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit farmer family. She has 2 daughters one of whom is dumb and both are married. The daughters are poor, illiterate, and unable to feed her and neglected her when her husband died 15 years ago. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is a gastric patient.
4		Mrs.Soosai 78of K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352, is from a poor dalit farmer family. She has 2 sons and 4 girls all married. The sons and daughters are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed her and neglected her after her husband died 2 years ago. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 2 years. She is an asthmatic patient.
5		Mr.Sankaraswamy 82 Ahilandapuram, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor reddyar farmer family. He has a son who is married. He is not able to feed him due to in law’s problems and neglected him after his wife died 4 years ago. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 2 years. He has hard constipation and piles sickness.
6		Mr.Thainesi80 K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352, is from a poor dalit farmer family. He has 2 sons and a daughter all married. They are poor and unable to feed him and neglected him 5 years ago. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 5 years. He has often loose motion and back pain.
7		Mr.Vellaswamy 71 K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO , Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit farmer family. He is a bachelor. His brother and sister do not care for him. He lived alone in different places and went through many types of difficulties. When he became very weak to work, ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 2 years. He is a advanced asthmatic patient and has stone kidney.
8		Mrs.Amali, 76 of Kovilpatti, Tuticorin dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor nayakar family. She had 4 sons all died of drunkenness and a girl who is married. Her daughter cannot give her food due to in laws problems. She was roaming without food. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 3 years. She is a little short tempered patient.
9		Mr.Antony, 75, K.Kailasapuram, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352, is from a poor dalit blacksmith family. He has a daughter and 2 sons who are married. They are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed him and neglected him with his wife. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 2 years. He has severe knee pain and can not walk much.
10		Mrs.Deivanai 73 of K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli Dt, Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit blacksmith family. She has a daughter and 2 sons who are married. They are poor, illiterate, and unable to feed her and neglected her with her husband Antony . ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is a gastric patient and severe knee pain and cannot walk.
11		Mr.Cruz Antony, 77, K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352, is from a poor dalit coolie family. He has 2 sons and 2 daughters all married. They are poor and unable to feed him and neglected him 3 years ago after his wife’s death. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 2 years. He is weak and can not see properly.
12		Mr.PurachiChellathurai, 69, K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352, is from a poor dalit farmer family. He is a bachelor. His relations are poor and unable to feed him and neglected him years ago. He worked alone as laborer and lived. Now he is sickly and unable to live alone. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 5 years. He has often stomach pain and knee pain.
13		Mrs. Rukmani, 68 of Kappikulam, Pasuvandunai, Tuticorin dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor dalit farmer family. She has a son and a girl all married. Both are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed her and neglected her after her husband died 6 years ago. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 1 year. She is a little mental patient.
14		Mrs. Paulina 73 of Sriviliputhur, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor dalit destitute. She was abandoned by her husband soon after her marriage. Her parents and relatives neglected her as well. She lived as housemaid till she was able. But she was abused by the society as she lived alone. She lived as orphan and destitute. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged last year. She is an weak and gastric patient.
15		Mrs. Gomadhi 83 of Ottanatham, Maniachi PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor dalit farmer family. She has a son and a daughter both married. They are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed her and neglected her after her husband died 6 years ago. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 3 months. She has broken her left leg and cannot walk.
16		Mrs. Chinnathai 70 of Papanasam, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor devar family. She was married to a man who had already a wife which she came to know after the marriage. So fought for her right in the court and finally started living alone. She had to go through a lot abuses as a woman. Her relatives are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed her and neglected her. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 4 months. She is a gastric patient and cannot hear.
17		Mr. Mariyesu 65 of Duraiyoor, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit coolie family. He has 3 daughters and a son. 25 years ago, he doubted his wife and became mentally sick. He roamed about in far places. Last year he came back to his house and his wife and married children did not accept him. They are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed him and neglected her after him. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home since last year. He is an asthmatic and gastric patient.
18		Mr. Murugan 29 of K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit farmer family. He is an otherwise able person. He limps and speaks restlessly. His parents abandoned him as a child. His grand parents took care of him. He managed to finish12^th Standard education. His grand parents cannot help him anymore. Nobody gives him a job nor respect him. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 1 year.
19		Ms. Celin Mary, 40, Govindhapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352, is from a poor dalit coolie family. She is a spinster. She is an epileptic patient from her childhood onward. Her 5 brothers and 2 sisters cornered her. Now her parents are dead and all her brothers and sisters are married. And she is left alone orphan and destitute. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 4 months. She is often falls down by epileptic attack.
20		Mrs. Muthulakshmi, 79 of Pandiyachery, Trichy dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor nadar family. She was abandoned by her husband with a blind son. Her blind son has 2 blind wives and did not look after the mother. She lived as coolie until she got her left hand paralyzed. Her son further left her in a Hindu Shrine to beg. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 3 months. She is a gastric patient.
21		Mr. Savarimuthu, 70, of Kheelakottai, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit coolie family. He has 2 daughters and a son. 40 years ago, he doubted his wife and ran away to Chennai. He worked as a coolie and lived till his age. Last year he came back to his wife and married children did not accept him. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home since last year. He is an asthmatic and gastric patient.
22		Mr. Ramadas, 83 of Koindhapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit coolie family. He has 2 sons. They are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed him and neglected him after his wife died. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 3 monts. He is an asthmatic and rheumatic pains. He has fall and now he can not walk.
23		Mr. Velu, 75 of K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit coolie family. He has 2 daughters and a son. 25 years ago, he doubted his wife and was abandoned by the family. He roamed about in far places. Last year he came back to his house and his wife and his married children did not accept him. They are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed him and neglected him. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 7 months. He has often stomach problems.
24		Mr. Amalraj (44), born on 18.07.1965, of Kayathar, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor pillaiyar family. His wife died leaving him a girl child. His in laws took the girl away from him. This made him mentally ill. So he could not work properly to make a living. He roamed about in far places. Finally he became sick and had to beg for food. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 2 months. He has constipation and piles.
25		Mrs. K.Daivanai, 70, of Keelakottai, Gangaikondan, Trinelveli Dt, Tamil Nadu – 627352, is from a dalit coolie family. She was married twice and husbands died with no children. She was living alone as a coolie. Now she can not work hard and ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 3 months. She is completely deaf and is a gastric patient.
26		Mrs. Maariammal, 75 of Palayam, Palakadu, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor mudhaliyar family. Soon after her marriage, her husband died. She did not marry and had no children at all. She lived alone as a coolie as all her relatives did not care for her. At her old aged she could not work any more. So she stared begging in trains and railway stations. One good soul brought her to ROSARY TRUST which took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 3 months. She has gastric and piles problems.
27		Mr. Karupasamy, 80, No.3, Kandhariamman kovil, Velalar Street , Kadayam Road , Kayathar, Trinelveli , TN , is from a poor Konar family. He has 2 sons and 2 daughters who are all illiterate and coolie laborers. They do not look after him. He alone worked and lived as a coolie laborer. Now he is very weak to work and joined the home for the aged run by Rosary Trust. He cannot hear properly.
28		Mr. Annammal, 75, Duraiyoor, Trinelveli Dt. TN -627352, is from a dalit coolie family. She has 4 daughters. Her husband ran away with another lady when the girls were little children. She had to work hard to bring up the 4 girls. Now they are married and cannot look after her because of in laws problems. She is too old to work. So Rosary Trust took her into its home for the aged. She is a sugar patient.
29		Mrs. Esther, 86 of Suthamalli, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor pillamar family. She has a son and a daughter. They are married. The in laws are very unjust towards her. Therefore she was living alone for many years. Now she is too weak and lonely to do anything. So she came to Rosary Trust for help. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 3 months. She is a gastric patient and has joint pains.
30		Mrs. Sundari, 65 of K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli Dt, Tamil Nadu-627352 is from a poor dalit farmer family. She has no children. Her husband is a TB patient and cannot work. She herself is an asthmatic patient. Thus both cannot work. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged.
31		Mr. Joseph, 71, K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan PO, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu-627352, is from a poor dalit coolie family. He has no children. He and his wife are very sickly people. His relations do not care for him. ROSARY TRUST took him into its home for the aged. He is at the home for the last 1 years. He is very weak and a TB patient.
32		Mr. Wilto Fernandes, 62, Sunami Colony, No.109, Perumanal, Trinelveli Dt, TN-627106, is from a poor fisherman family. He has a son and 2 daughters who are studying. 2 years ago he was paralyzed through his right side of the body. He could not work anymore. His wife and children abandoned him and did not take care of him. He was roaming about. Rosary Trust took him into its home for the aged. He is able to walk a bit now. He is a sugar patient as well.
33		Mr. Palthurai, 54, Dalaiyal Nadandhan Kulam, Trinelveli , TN -627352, is from a poor dalit coolie family. He was paralyzed from waist when he was young. He is bedridden. His brother is unable to look after him. And they are all very poor. His mother Meenakshi is too old to look after him. Rosary Trust took him into its home for the aged.
34		Mrs. Maadathi, 70, Dalaiyal Nadandhan Kulam, Trinelveli , TN -627352, is from a poor dalit family. She has 2 sons and 3 daughters who are all illiterate and coolie workers. Therefore they are not able to look after her. So Rosary Trust took her into its home for the aged. She runs short of eye sight and is very weak.
35		Mrs. Muthukutti,65, Dalaiyal Nadandhan Kulam, Trinelveli , TN -627352, is from a poor dalit family. She has 2 sons and 2 daughters. They are illiterate and very poor. Unfortunately, she had a fall 5 years ago and can not get up. Her husband is looking after all her needs but he cannot work hard and earn. Rosary Trust took them into its home for the aged.
36		Mr. Aarumugam, 70, Dalaiyal Nadandhan Kulam, Trinelveli , TN -627352, is Muthukutti’s husband. He can not work hard and is too old now. His children do not care for them as they are very poor. Rosary Trust took him into its home for the aged. He is very weak.
37		Mrs. Oorgali, 69, Dalaiyal Nadandhan Kulam, Trinelveli , TN -627352, is from a poor dalit family. Her husband died 15 years ago. Her son and daughter are illiterate and poor. They do not care about her. She lived alone as a coolie laborer. Now she is very weak and sickly. Rosary Trust took her into its home for the aged.
38		Mr. Subramanian, 80, Dalaiyal Nadandhan Kulam, Trinelveli , TN -627352, is from a poor dalit family. He has 4 sons and a daughter. All are illiterate and neglected the father. He does not have even a house to stay and was begging. Rosary Trust took him into its home for the aged. He has wheezing and allergic problems.
39		Mr. Sivan, 70. Dalaiyal Nadandhan Kulam, Trinelveli , TN -627352, is from a poor dalit family. He was married and his wife died long back. He has no children. He was roaming about as a coolie laborer. Relatives do not care for him. He has wheezing problems and can not work. Rosary Trust took him into its home for the aged.
40		Mr. Pechumuthu, 65, Dalaiyal Nadandhan Kulam, Trinelveli , TN -627352, is from a poor dalit family. He has a son and a daughter who are illiterate and married. They are very poor and do not look after him. He has sugar and weak nerves problems. He can not work. Rosary Trust took him into its home for the aged .
41		Mr. Sunmugavel, 65, Dalaiyal Nadandhan Kulam, Trinelveli , TN -627352, is from a poor dalit family. He has married and his wife died without children. He is alone. He is sugar patient and has skin allergy. He is an orphan. Rosary Trust took him into its home for the aged.
42		Mrs. Mariammal, 62, D.N. Kulam, Gangaikondan, Trineveli Dt, Tamil Nadu – 627352, is from a poor dalit coolie family. She has a son and a daughter who are married now. They are all illiterate and live in a very remote village. She is very weak to work hard. Her children are not able to support her. Rosary trust took her into its home for the aged. She has often stomach problems.

They are all illiterate and live in a very remote village. He has often body pains and bone joints are very weak. His children are not able to support him. She can hear only little and has knee pain.

They are poor coolies, illiterate, unable to feed her and neglected her after her husband died 5 years ago. ROSARY TRUST took her into its home for the aged. She is at the home for the last 5 years. She has knee pain.
47		Mr. Devapakiam, 90, Duraiyoor, Trinelveli , TN -627352 is from a dalit coolie family. His wife died long back without a child. He lived alone for long time. Now he is very old to work for himself. His relatives do nor care for him. He has skin diseases. Rosary Trust took him into its home for the aged.
48		Mrs. Pushpam, 70, Duraiyoor, Trinelveli , TN -627352 is from a dalit coolie family. Her husband and only son died in an accident. She lived alone as a coolie laborer. Now she is old and sickly. She is a sugar patient. Her eyes are failing. Rosary Trust took her into its home for the aged.
49		Mrs. Ravel, 75, K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor dalit coolie family. Her husband died 20 years back. She worked hard to grow a son and a daughter. They are married. They are illiterate and unable to look after her. Therefore she was living alone for many years. Now she is too weak to do anything. Rosary Trust chose to give her the winter clothings to make her feel warm.
50		Mrs. Valli, 78, K.Kailasapuram, Gangaikondan, Trinelveli dt, Tamil Nadu, is from a poor dalit coolie family. Her husband died when the children were small. They are all illiterate and married. The in laws are very unjust towards her. Therefore she was living alone for many years. Now she is too weak to do anything. Rosary Trust chose to give her the winter clothings to make her feel warm. She is a gastric patient and has joint pains.
